New GitHub Repo: PowerShell Scripts for Domain WHOIS & Management
I’ve just published a new GitHub repository that I’m pretty excited about. It contains a handful of PowerShell scripts for working with domains—with a focus on WHOIS lookups.
Why I Built This
Looking up a single WHOIS record is easy enough. You can hop over to sites like MXToolbox or GoDaddy and get quick results.
But when you’re dealing with multiple domains—sometimes dozens, sometimes hundreds—manual lookups become painful fast. That’s especially true if you want to:
- Run WHOIS queries in bulk.
- Track domain expirations on a schedule.
- Keep tabs on registrations when you’re stuck with a registrar like Network Solutions, which doesn’t exactly make automation easy.
That’s the situation I found myself in, so I decided to create a simple set of scripts to solve it.
What’s in the Repo
Right now, the repository includes PowerShell scripts that make it easy to:
- Run WHOIS lookups on one or more domains.
- Parse and format WHOIS data into something readable.
- Automate recurring checks so you don’t get caught off guard by an expired domain.
What’s Next
I’m also a big fan of Cloudflare and the APIs they provide. My plan is to expand this repo with scripts that handle automated DNS management and other domain-related tasks.
If you’re like me—juggling multiple domains and wanting more control over your DNS and registrations—this project might save you some headaches.
